Thank you Congresswoman Finkenauer for the Great American Outdoors Act!
Outdoor recreation has gotten a boost during the coronavirus as being outdoors has been a great way to take your mind off from the crippling pandemic. This critical role of outdoor green spaces has highlighted the need to increase conservation and improve access to parks and public lands. Congresswoman Finkenauer has worked tirelessly to promote legislation that creates jobs in conservation. Staying healthy during a pandemic and providing employment during an economic crisis goes hand in hand with the Great American Outdoors Act. The Great American Outdoors Act provides funding for maintenance and repairs to a variety of public lands and National Parks. The maintenance and repairs for public lands and National Parks are greatly overdue. Many of the jobs created in the The Great American Outdoors Act are low carbon footprint jobs that can also be done while socially distancing.
Moving forward means to create an agenda that protects important natural spaces and invests in rebuilding local economies by expanding access to the great outdoors. Whether its rural Iowa or big cities, outdoor green spaces are often at the center of vibrant communities. Finkenauer has spent her career promoting labor unions and infrastructure. The Great American Outdoors Act is both while also one more step to a civilian conservation act needed to combat climate change.
Over the last few months, many have found peace in the outdoors. Peace is needed in the chaos of 2020 and the Trump administration’s anti-environment agenda is putting peace out of reach. The Great American Outdoors Act is bi-partisan, historic, and one of many first steps needed to combat climate change. Every American will benefit from Finkenauer’s leadership which expands outdoor recreation opportunities as well as create hundreds of thousands of jobs. The Trump Administration has failed to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic but Abby Finkenauer is picking up the ball and running towards green union jobs.
